Unclockable Winter 2017 Outfits

Unfortunately for us in the Northern Hemisphere and in the East Coast (which is an oddly specific generalization but I see y'all beneath the equator and in California - I see y'all), to be frank, it's getting cold. Now it is getting socially acceptable to look like Pops from Regular Show.

Besides always advocating for the Eskimo look, I've realized how my outfits are lately surrounded by my bulky winter jacket. With this in mind, I decided to use this as a way to rework the idea of the normal winter outfit: jacket, sweater, jeans, boots.

Disclaimer: First off, all of these outfit posts were created in Polyvore, which is like the epitome of "let's-pretend-I-don't-have-a-budget", but I'll include cheaper options of the clothes I mention. Also, like in Polypore fashion, there is a chance that some clothes are sold out. If so, I'll clearly indicate and once again provide alternatives.

Second, the purpose of this is to be inspirational. I support other people who dress how they like and what they like. I'm not asking you to actively search for all these clothes, but to take into account that there's other ways to express your style and if your style is leggings and a t shirt I'm fine with that!

Third, I dress kind of crazy... don't say I didn't warn you.

Minimal

This is an outfit you wear to work/school and you have other places to go after. I've worn an outfit similar to this to school, to my internship, and to a friends house.

Coat: Mango
Sweater: Zaful
Jeans: Gap
Boots: (only available in Europe) alternatives: 1, 2, 3

The Boy

To be honest I've been dressing like a boy (more like prepubescent teenage boy) for as long as I can remember. Attempting to dress more feminine is a bit difficult for me. For all of y'all tomboys UNITE.

Flannel: Uniqlo
Sweater: RE/DONE (sold out) alternatives: 1, 2
Jeans:RE/DONE (sold out) alternatives: straight leg jeans
Beanie: unknown

Get Lit

I've seen this trend downtown where many people are wearing plaid blazers (double-breasted usually)  as jackets. It's like a modernized librarian (kind of?). Obviously, I made this outfit with in mind that you might wear a jacket over it.

Hoodie: Acne (price wise it's a no) alternatives: Uniqlo
Blazer: unknown; alternatives: Nasty Gal, Lulus
Jeans: Topshop
Turtleneck: Mango
Beanie: Carhartt
Boots: Timberland (are you deadass enough for these shoes?)

Racergirl

I love Mishbv products because of their bold prints and overall style. Unfortunately, their brand is super expensive. What a way to make a girl cry.

Jacket: Mishbv (sold out and I can't find alternatives - also another way to make a girl sad)
Top: Fenty (also expensive but let a girl dream)
Overalls: unknown
 Hat: Forever 21
Shoes: Adidas

We're Falling in Retrograde

One of the crazier outfits, I guess. I personally don't like puffers but I feel like if it's a cropped puffer, many people can pull it off.

Sweater: Zaful
Puffer: Mishbv (sold out) alternatives: Free People Asos
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Fenty (sold out everywhere)
Beanie: unknown (best beanies are from Forever 21)

She's an Actual Snake

I actually don't own any snakeskin pants but I do have my eyes on a pair. I'm just hoping it doesn't get sold out before I have a chance to buy some. I know in theory snakeskin pants just look like a bad idea, but personally, I think they're a great basic (although a bit out there).

Snakeskin is usually in fairly neutral colors and if you balance it out in black as I have it might be a great statement neutral piece.

Puffer: 3.1 Phillip Lim (sold out) alternatives: Free People Asos
Shirt: River Island
Pants: unknown; alternatives: I AM GIA
Boots: Timberland

Okay, so that's that. Once again, these were used to inspire not to force any of you to buy these specific clothes. In fact, this should be a great template for you to switch some stuff out to suit your own comfort level.

  8. I love all of the outfits, they are very stylish, but being a true minimalist, I must say I my favorite is the minimalist set. Combining grey and black is my thing, I could buy all of the pieces you recommend easily.

Anything else I’m too uncomfortable in! Although nowadays as it’s so cold, I just wear a puffy coat.
